What sparked my interest in Trichology was back in 1999 when I began to work for a Professional Hairdressing manufacturer called TRESemmé, which came under the umbrella of Albert Culver at that time. Part of my introduction to the company was to learn about other companies within the corporation. Philip Kingsley was part of the corporation at the time and I asked the question you are asking: What is Trichology? I found it fascinating that our overall health was indicated by what was happening on our head. After that all I did was keep asking questions until I was eventfully guided to apply to do the training course with the Institute of Trichologists. It took me a few years to enrol as I am a hairdresser and spend most of my time working. In 2004, after I got married to my husband Stewart, I started my training in Trichology. Description of Trichology It is the study of hair and scalp disorders. It is not an exact science, which means what works for one person does not always work for another. It takes the approach of holistic as well as orthodox treatment. There is new research being carried out all the time, so treatment and cures for conditions that have previously been difficult to manage are now being developed.
