Wrinkle Reduction Treatment
Would you like to smooth away the crow’s feet around your eyes? Perhaps you feel your frown lines are making you look cross or that fine lines and wrinkles are ageing your face?
When you come to the Cotswold Face and Body Clinic for wrinkle reduction treatment, we use Botox® injections by Allergan to treat fine lines and wrinkles, and smooth away those expressive lines that can make you look older than you feel.
We use a light touch, drawing on our knowledge of facial muscles and structure, to give you a really natural-looking result. You’ll still be able to smile, frown and show surprise, but the lines you dislike will look much fainter and may even disappear altogether.
You’ll look like you but a rested, refreshed and rejuvenated version.

The examples below are of real patients before and after their wrinkle reduction treatment using Botox®.
How do Botox® wrinkle reduction injections work?
Botox® Cosmetic is FDA approved and produced by a company called Allergan; it is the leading brand of Botulinum Toxin Type A. When Botox® is injected into carefully targeted facial muscles, it can temporarily reduce their activity so that they’re not able to contract and move. It’s this repeated muscle contraction that helps cause frown lines and crow’s feet.
What can Botox® be used to treat?
Botox® Cosmetic wrinkle reduction treatments are ideal for the dynamic expression lines on the upper half of your face, particularly horizontal and vertical lines on your forehead and around your eyes when you smile. For lines on the lower half of your face, we would usually recommend a treatment using dermal fillers. Botox® can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis, i.e. excessive sweating, particularly around the armpit area.
What should I expect from the treatment?
Some people say that the injection feels like a slight pinch or pinprick. Depending on the area to be treated, we may use a topical numbing cream to help you feel as comfortable as possible.
We have a ‘less is more’ approach to Botox® which means that we would rather top-up the product at a review appointment than over-treat your face. We feel it is important that you retain your natural appearance rather than your features looking and feeling frozen.
If you have moderate to severe frown lines, you should notice that they start to look smoother within 24 to 48 hours of your Botox® wrinkle reduction treatment. The results typically last for up to four months.
Is Botox® safe?
By coming to the Cotswold Face and Body Clinic, you have the reassurance of knowing that we buy Botox® directly from Allergan; this ensures that the product has been created following strict manufacturing, storage and transportation procedures.
One way to ensure you are receiving genuine Botox® is to check the bottle has a red or purple cap, states Botox® on the label, has an Allergan holographic image, and that the seal is not broken.
Botox® has been licensed for cosmetic purposes since 2002, although its usage can be tracked back more than 30 years for various medical conditions. It has an excellent safety record when used by experts at the correct dosage. Common side effects of Botox® injections are a headache, swelling, bruising or discomfort at the injection site. Usually these problems resolve themselves within a few hours of the treatment.
If you experience any problems breathing, speaking or swallowing you should seek medical help immediately as they can be signs of the toxin effect spreading. There has not been a serious confirmed case of spread of toxin effect when Botox® Cosmetic has been used at the recommended dose to treat frown lines, crow’s feet lines, or both at the same time.
In rare cases, Botox® can cause the eyelid or brow to droop but this is usually caused by an inadequate injection technique. As Botox® injections are carried out by an experienced and highly qualified aesthetic nurse at Cotswold Face and Body Clinic, this minimises the risk of potential side effects.
What do I need to do after my wrinkle reduction treatment?
We will give you clear aftercare instructions when you attend the clinic for a wrinkle reduction treatment using Botox®. You should avoid any exercise, saunas or extreme heat for 24 hours after your treatment. You should also avoid rubbing the area where you were injected to prevent the Botox® from spreading to other nearby muscles in your face.
Is wrinkle reduction treatment right for me?
Before you commit to any treatment, we will ask you to come into the clinic for a one-to-one free initial consultation with our Clinic Director, Emma Beddow. Emma has spent more than 11 years in the cosmetic surgery and facial aesthetics industry and offers a hand-holding service where she will take the time to listen to how you feel about your lines and wrinkles, or any other issues, and advise on and recommend the right medical expert for your requirements.
It is only by spending some time with you that we can help you determine whether Botox® injections would be your best treatment option. We may recommend another treatment if there’s one that we believe would give you a better outcome for your individual case; we may even advise you against treatment if we feel it’s in your best interests. At all times, we will give an honest and transparent assessment that puts your needs first.
